HERTFORD & DISTRICT TABLE TENNIS LEAGUE AGM MINUTES held 8pm - MON. 7th June 2010
At Broxbourne Recreation Park sports pavilion.
PRESENT: Colin Fell, Tony Manion, Faith Frankel, Nigel Gray, Bryon Gates, Alex Morreale, Terry Burroughs, Ray Blakes, Joe Scibetta, Joe Torres, Jo Swain, Rita Rowe.
Apologies: Colin Bullworthy, Tony Scibetta.
Minutes of 2009 AGM were read and approved. Proposer: Bryon Gates. Seconded by Tony Maniam
1. ETTA Individual Registration fees are to be £5.64 each player. Everybody must register themselves this year and then let the league know their registration number. Jo Swain to collect these in and keep a record of them.
2. Chairman’s Report: Everything depleting in the league due to lack of support. Handicap Tournament was cancelled this year. Handicap cup was held a week later. The Closed Championship tournament ran but same people in semi and finals which made things slow. NO 16-18 entries. Question was asked:- Would changing the day help? Do people prefer Saturday? Date is always in handbook from beginning of season. Captains must remind their team players. We need to find out why people do not play or enter? Try Saturday OR Thursday evening on Free week. Players at meeting would prefer to play during the week!!! Ask team players why they won’t enter? Generally half and half for and against. Next year we will try Thursday evening at Cheshunt Club. Will discuss at committee meeting.
3. Must book two evenings to plan and prepare Handbook.
4. Treasurers Report: Profit this year of £200 due to not buying handicap prizes as no tournament held. Bought new Accounts book. Only engrave Cups – Junior and Pine Trophy. Bribar advert has been sent in and paid £30 – arrived Friday 28th May. Terry Burroughs is agent if anyone would like to order anything. Any profits will be given to players in Cheshunt Club. Interest has gone down at Building Society. See Attached Accounts. Must check Insurance cost?
5. Results Secretary report: C. Bullworthy sent final results via email:- see report in Newsletter No.8. Tony & Joe Scibetta first in 2 divisions. It was a good season and result cards were received on time. Please try to remember which league you are in ......Cheshunt is usually ABC and Hertford I, II, III. Even the snow affected matches caught up eventually and season finished on time.
6. Election of Committee: Jo Swain – Acting Chairperson . Secretary: Rita Rowe. Match Results Secretary: Colin Bullworthy. Cup results secretary: Colin Bullworthy. Treasurer: Joe Torres. We haven’t heard anything from Mark Janes so do not know his position with us. Nigel Gray can offer help on committee next year but tied up this year.
7. Pine Trophy was awarded to Alex Morreale - Cheshunt Club.
8. Joe Torres will email Colin Fell the Trophy winners for closed championship tournament to be entered into handbook.
9. Proposed Fees for ETTA are: Seniors £5.64, Cadets £2.82 and Associate members £2.50. How do we as a league collect money from clubs. Each club do their own collections or just let the individual players send money direct to ETTA.
10. A.O.B:
A A lot of young people are going to Malcolm Norris at Grundy Park so other clubs do not get
them joining. Cheshunt Club have lost youngsters because they grow up and move on.
b. We should reduce league fees for each club as we won’t have to pay ETTA anymore. Suggest league fees be £35. Check at next Hertfordshire meeting.
c. Could Allenbury’s put another team in league to make 2?
d. Can any other clubs join that used to be with us or have they all closed down?
e. There is to be an open day for Brox. Borough Council. Table Tennis are having a stall to promote the game and help is needed to set up during the morning and man the stall between 2 – 5pm. Then to dismantle at end of day. Please contact Faith Frankel if you can help.
11. Colin Fell will print our handbooks.
12. Team information to be in by 10. July – committee to meet the following week to prepare league and handbook.
