General
The new season is now under way, and newcomers Furneux Pelham and Stanstead Abbotts have both been involved in some close, competitive matches.

Our webmaster has created a programme allowing team captains to enter results directly onto the website here at www.HertsTTL.org.uk.  I have circulated instructions for captains who wish to do this.  Results can be input by either captain.  Alternatively, you can continue to email/post results to me and I will enter them on your behalf.  Once entered, fixtures, tables, results and averages are automatically updated. (Premier league averages have a minor glitch which should be sorted out by this weekend.)  As at 15 October, all results that have been received have been entered and league tables are up to date.

Handbook Amendment
Just a reminder that the new captain of St Andrews is Brian Jennings.

League News
In the Premier Division, Grundy Park I have started the season with three straight wins, dropping just five points, Sam Flaum unbeaten in nine.  Current champions, Allenburys I, beat both Cheshunt II and Grundy Park II 9-1 and are seven points behind having played one match less.  HRC I could challenge the top two but due to various circumstances and through no fault of their own are yet to start their season.
Allenburys III are the early leaders in Division 1, Andy Reeve winning eight out of nine, his only defeat by Harbinder Singh of Grundy Park III, 13-15 in the fifth who is unbeaten in the league, winning nine out of nine.  HRC II are second, three points behind.  Ian McAllister of Furneux Pelham has made a good start, winning four out of five.  Stanstead Abbotts have picked up seven points in their first two matches, including a treble for Jan Kinsman in a 5-5 draw against Watton-At-Stone.

Cup News
DIVISIONAL Cup
The Divisional Cup is in the same format as last season.  Each division is split into two groups of four.  Format is “round robin”, each match is six singles, three doubles (blank Scoresheet on website).  Scoring system is number of sets won. i.e. If you win 5-4 you gain five points.  The winners from each group meet in the Divisional finals in December.

The first round of matches have produced a number of close matches.  Steve Burton won both his singles including a 12-10 final set victory over Colin Holmes to help St. Andrews to a 5-4 win at Watton-at-Stone.  In the battle of the two newcomers, Paul Luton and Dick Dixon defeated Annette and Bruce McAllister 11-7 in the fifth set of the last game to give Stanstead Abbotts a 5-4 victory at Furneux Pelham.  In another tight match Allenburys III beat HRC II 5-4, Celeste Reeve and Steve Hooker beating Jo' Swain and Barry Waterman 11-4, again in the fifth set to secure another 5-4.  Wayne Boddy defeated the previously unbeaten Harbinder Singh in straight sets as Pramastars II defeated Grundy Park III 6-3.
