League News
Grundy Park I and current Premier Division champions Allenburys I have both started well.  Sam Flaum is still unbeaten in fifteen after helping Grundy Park I defeat Pramastars I and HRC I, 10-0 and 8-2 respectively.  Allenburys I are only three points behind, Mike Merryweather having exactly the same record as Sam.  Grundy Park II are third, just ahead of Allenburys II after the two sides drew 5-5.  In a 6-4 win at Cheshunt II, Brian Day of Allenburys II won all his singles but partnering Dave Ling lost the doubles to James Pugh and Geoff Jeffries in five, losing the first set 14-12 and the decider by a score from the past, 21-19!  Last season’s Divison 1 champions, Pramastars I are finding it hard going with just three points after four matches.

In Division 1, two points separate four teams, HRC II just two points ahead of Pramastars II, Grundy Park III and Allenburys III.  Matches between the four show how close the division is, in the head-to-head matches none of the teams have scored more than six in an evening.  Andy Reeve won all three singles for Allenburys III ina 5-5 draw with Pramastars II. Wayne Boddy did the same as Pramastars II beat HRC II 6-4, as did Jenny Pomfrett as HRC II won 6-4 at Allenburys III.  Although Grundy Park III won 7-3 at St Andrews to remain equal second, two points behind HRC II, Harbinder Singh lost his unbeaten record, John Hughes coming from two sets down to win 3-2, one of his three wins on the night.  Honours were even between the two new teams as Bruce, Ian and Janette McAllister of Furneux Pelham drew 5-5 at Stanstead Abbotts, Ian winning all three.

In Pool 1 of the Premier Division, HRC I have already qualified for the final. Their opponents from Pool 2 will be either Allenburys currently on 15 points, three ahead of Grundy Park I,the two teams meeting in the final pool match.
In Division 1, both pool winners are still undecided going into the last round of matches.  Theoretically, every team in each pool could still get through although the current favourites to meet in the final on 10th December at Allenburys are HRC II and Pramastars II.

HANDICAP TOURNAMENT
An early mention that the Handicap Tournament will be held at the Cheshunt Club on Thursday 3 January 2019.  It is an ideal way to work off the Xmas and New Year excesses ready for the second half of the season. All registered players are eligible to enter. As usual there will be a singles and doubles competition with all players entered in both. A charge of £2 per person to go towards hire of premises and engraving of trophies. Entry forms and individual handicaps will be available next month.
