First newsletter of the new season. Good news is that most matches have been played on time. There are a few free weeks up to Christmas to allow any outstanding fixtures to be completed. Also may I remind you that all players that compete in the league and cups should be registered with Table Tennis England.

League News
The Premier Division could be closer than it has been for years. The addition of Seyi Oni and the return of Sam Flaum has enabled Grundy Park A to take an early lead although only six points separate the top four. The leaders won the doubles in a 5-5 draw at Water Lane A and then did the same in a 6-4 victory against champions HRC A. Cheshunt B have only played two matches, but with Mike Merryweather & Bradley Tuttle added to the team, they have beaten both Water Lane A & HRC A 6-4 and could also be contenders. Kidston A have only played one match but picked up seven points. In Division 1, Simon Rata of Cheshunt D has won 9/9 and both Graham Waddingham & Simon Parker of Kidston B have 6/6 as both teams are level at the top. Cheshunt D beat both Water Lane B & HRC C 6-4, both matches decided in the doubles. Grundy Park C are third, six points behind the joint leaders, one point ahead of HRC C. In Division 2, Pramastars A lead the way, three points ahead of Water Lane C. HRC D are a further three points behind, closely followed by Pramastars B & Aston.

Divisional Cup News
Cheshunt B are through to the final of the Creasey Cup after beating Grundy Park B (7-2) & HRC B (8-1). Their opponents will be the winners of holders Water Lane A and HRC A. Cheshunt C have reached the final of the Clifford Troll trophy. Although they defeated their E team 8-1, the score did not reflect the evening. In the 1st game, Kevin Sawyer & Chris Tuttle beat Yehor Turcyn & Andrii Rycluk 19-17 in the fifth! A further four matches were also decided in the final set. In the semi-final, Zak Leyton-Elliot & Chris Tuttle won the doubles to clinch a 5-4 win after St Andrews A had fought back from 4-2 down. Their opponents in the final will be holders, Water Lane B. Water Lane C have also progressed to their second consecutive final in the MSD Trophy after beating HRC D (6-3) and St Andrews B (8-1) where they will play Pramastars A who defeated both Aston and Pramastars B 6-3.
Dates & venues of the various cup finals will be notified in due course.
