It is with great sadness that I have to pass on the news that Geoff passed away earlier this week. I and many other players in the league had known Geoff for many years and I personally thought he was indestructible and would go on for years even though he was over 90. Although he hadn't played in the league for a year, he came for a practice at Thundridge as recently as the summer. He was never short of a word or two, not surprisingly he was a black cab driver for nearly thirty years. Many a game I have tried to concentrate amidst his non-stop banter. He loved his table-tennis, chatting to everybody and just being a thoroughly nice person who will be sorely missed.
For anybody who wants to pay their respects, his funeral is on Tuesday 28th October, 3pm at Woolensbrook Crematorium, Hoddesdon EN11 9BN.
The wake is at The Glass Lounge Elsie House Hoddesdon EN11 8BP |
